Renowned poet
Richard Wilbur (Dick) and
his wife Charl (whom Betty had known since
the early 1940's) visited the Farm several
times when he was giving
poetry readings
in St. Louis (and once in Hermann). He
gave
Betty and John this signed poem on one
such visit, perhaps in the 1980's. I believe
it is a souvenir reproduction of the original
typed poem |
Christmas 1978.
This was the one year
all family members made it to Hermann
in the
same year for the Holidays.
Other years some family member
always
were there but this was the year
that all made
it at once.
